The entries and programme all went out in due time but entries were down so it was decided that because we were so few in numbers for this event that we would run just the one day.
We had a guest racer from the BOP Club, Peter Anderson who had a very fast electric N2 Hydro, a Pro-Boat Elam Plus. He gave Jason a run in Jason’s new RTR from Hobby King, Libero. Jason won the first heat but a DNF in heat 2 gave Peter a win with a 2nd in heat 1 and a 1st in heat 2. Well done Peter.
Fast Electric 1/8th Scale Hydro had Jason with DeWalt take out the win over Merv’s Miss Budweiser.
Scale 45 had Steve with Executone took out the one lappers with a time of 19.19sec. Steve also took out the Scale 45 win over Merv’s Rite-On.
1/8th Nitro Scale hydro had Steve’s Executone doing 17sec flat, over Merv’s Budweiser 18.50sec and Jason’s new Winston Eagle 19.38sec.
Racing had Budweiser with 2 first placings, 2 seconds and a DNF, Winston had a few problems with the first 2 heats but manged to pick up 2two 3rd places and a third. Executone had 3 first places a second and a DNF. The Final Take all was a tight race between Executone and Budweiser with Winston trailing the field. Executone took out the win over Bud and Winston spun out with a DNF.
Steve was the only Gas Classic Hydro to turn up and ran 5 heats a Final and took fuul points.
The Tauranga Club has a great venue, good water and it’s a pity more competitors couldn’t make this regatta. Hope more effort is taken for next year.
Thanks to Steve and his band of men for putting on the regatta, see you next year.
